New Article Published in Chemical Communications
A new manuscript by Khoury, Abeyrathna, Heater, Kucharzyk and Banta was published in Chemical Communications. This manuscript, which was featured on the inside front cover, describes the impact of truncating the RTX domain to have fewer ion binding sites, which reduces the heterogeneity of the binding sites when the domains are immobilized for metal separation chromatography. The RTX domain with 2 rare earth element (REE) binding sites was able to achieve a 200-fold selectivity between REEs and demonstrates the trade-offs that occur between selectivity and binding capacity when using repeat proteins for metal bioseparations.
