A new manuscript by Jiang, Khare and Banta describing a predicted structure of the Cyc2 outer membrane protein of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans was published in Protein Science. First author Virginia Jiang, a senior undergraduate student in the Banta Lab, used the Rosetta software to model the Cyc2 protein which is the key outer membrane protein that enables ferrous iron oxidation and electron transfer into the central metabolism.
