New Funding from the NSF

Professor Banta has received a 2-year $300,000 EAGER award from the NSF entitled: "DESYN‐C3: Mimicking Mitochondria: Developing Synthetic Pathways to Power Pseudo‐Cell Functions using Diverse Fuel Resources".  The goal of the project will be to develop synthetic metabolic pathways that enable a replacement for oxidative phosphorylation so that NADH generating fuel oxidation cascades can be used to regenerate ATP for use in future synthetic cell functions.
